Jo Marches (Utrecht, Netherlands)
Utrecht outfit Jo Marches is led by singer-songwriter, Johanneke Kranendonk and with EP’s produced by David Hoogerheide and mixed by Baskerville’s Thijs van der Klugt, her music blends sophisticated pop, psychedelic rock and electronica to blissful effect.
Having already received praise from the likes of Kaltblut, Glamcult, Impose Magazine and The Revue and with live shows including sets as a support act for Klangstof, Trixie Whitley, and a post-gig show for the legendary PJ Harvey’s, she had a head of steam building up in the run-up to their first releases.
Drawing on inspirations such as Tame Impala, Broadcast, Portishead, Caribou, and The Dø, the Jo Marches sound is an emotive, atmospheric one that blends perfectly with Kranendonk’s yearning vocals. Their second EP is expected to be released this fall.
Trees (Ottawa, Canada)
Trees began as an instrumental three piece. Alex and Andrew Gelok, with Alex Johnstone, created a sound that combined their love of post-rock and effect-driven guitar.
A year after formation, Jon Matthews joined Trees as a singer and instrumentalist…bringing melodies to the intricate harmony.
With strong roots in Canada’s capital, Trees are something new, and destined to grow.
