– Marie Hamilton –
A vocalist and harpist, Marie Kathleen Hamilton work explores both the strings she plays and the space between them. A Vermont native currently based in Montreal, she has spent time studying harp and song in Ireland, Scotland, and France and has shared her music on stages, in gardens, on rooftops, by the ocean, and in forests all across eastern Canada and the US.
– Libby Hortop –
In 2014, Libby Hortop bought an autoharp off Kijiji on a whim and began writing songs in the simplest, most uninhibited way possible. This marked a departure from her previous work, which included studying music at McGill and lugging a heavy electric piano to gigs. She has been writing songs since her teenage years, and currently teaches voice and piano lessons at Alcorn Music Studios in Ottawa. She can often be found wandering the woods of Gatineau Park near her home in Hull, Quebec.
– Tripoly –
Tripoly might be a new collaboration on the scene, but its members have a wide and long experience of sourcing and presenting folk music. Fiddlehead Soup’s Doug Hendry and Glenna Hunter have teamed up with vocalist Elizabeth McNally to create a set of hauntingly beautiful songs from a variety of traditions.
With a voice that will remind folk-music lovers of Steeleye Span’s Maddy Prior, Elizabeth’s rich vocals blend harmoniously with Doug & Glenna. Adding 12 string guitar, cello and violin to the mix, Tripoly creates a musical landscape that will captivate you.
