Debaser & Pressed Present
Saturday September 29th | 8:30PM | $8-PWYC
Napster Vertigo (Montreal via PEI)
Napster vertigo is “no time for fear and loathing, time now for light and love” pop/rock music “rea(be)rran(com)gi(e)ngly” experimental music that “roared in the pines” as the Pop Culture “storm unfold[ed]” and realized that “with a perfect contempt for it, one discovers in it, after all, a place for the genuine”. “Yes, i took care to keep well out of earshot” of all materialistic, mean-spirited and narcissistic musical influence. “My heart rouses thinking to bring you news of something that concerns you” from “somewhere i have never traveled, gladly beyond” where “we jazz June” all year long.
An off-shoot of Ottawa art-rock collective Pony Girl, mal/aimé take the band’s experimental chamber sound and run with it, combining clarinet, guitars, and percussion with synths, drones and electronics. As a recording project, the trio’s output focuses primarily on etudes that experiment with short moments in time, unbound by the structural rules of their live performance.
